Rabbi, Who Sinned?

As He passed by, He saw man blind from birth.
And His disciples asked Him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?" Jesus answered, "It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him (John 9:1-3).

One of the common belief in Jewish culture was that suffering was the result of some great sin. Many people today believe the same myth. But Christ used this man's suffering to teach about faith and to glorify God.

Understand that we live in a fallen world where good behavior is not always rewarded and bad behavior not always punished. Therefore, innocent people sometimes suffer. Now think about, if God took suffering away whenever we asked, we would follow him for comfort and convenience, not out of love and devotion. It doesn't matter the reasons for our suffering, Jesus has the power to help us deal with it. When you suffer from a disease, disability, or tragedy, try not to ask, "Why did this happen to me?" or "What did I do wrong?" Instead, ask God to give you strength for the trail and a clearer perspective on what is happening.

10 Habits of the "Naturally" Thin

1. Snack smarter. Portion out the day's snacks into pint-size zip bags, or buy single-serving portions.

2. Cut the cheese. order your pizza with half the cheese or even cheese-less, instead sprinkle with some Parmesan.

3. Tone in traffic. Squeeze-in your behind each time you tap the brake, holding for 10 seconds. do 10 to 15 squeezes a trip.

4. An apple (or more) a day. They are packed with fiber and water, so your stomach will want fewer large cookies.

5. Start with soup. Order a clear soup instead of a salad and you can save twice the calories. Plus you'll feel fuller and eat less.

6. Eat like a kid. If you must have a "fast" lunch, just eat kid-sized portions.

7. Scream for sorbet. Indulge in chocolate sorbet instead of chocolate ice cream.

8. Climb up. Taking the stairs for a total of just two minutes, five days a week, gives you the same calorie-burning results as a 20-minute walk.

9. Talk it standing up. Every time you use the phone, stand up and pace around. Heavy people sit on average two and a half hours more per day than thin people, according to the Mayo Clinic.

10. Jog for junk mail. For every piece of junk mail you pull from the mailbox each day, do one lap around your home.

Are You a Slave of Sin?

Jesus answered them, " Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin. " The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever (John 8:34-35).

Sin has a way of enslaving us, controlling us, dominating us, and dictating our actions. Jesus can free you from this slavery that keeps you from becoming the person God created you to be. If sin is restraining, mastering, or enslaving you, Jesus can break its power over your life.

To Whom Shall We Go?

So Jesus said to the twelve, "You do not want to go away also, do you?"
Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life (John 6:67-68).

During this time many of Jesus' followers had deserted him, he asked the twelve disciples if they were also going to leave. Peter said, "To whom shall we go?" In his outspoken way, Peter answered for all of us-there is no other way. In this day and age so many people have their own way, and their own styled authorities, Jesus alone has the words of eternal life.
Don't do as so many people are doing today looking everywhere for eternal life and miss Christ, the only source. Trust in Him, stay with Him, especially when you feel alone, and nothing seem to be making sense to you.

Do You Not Say?

"Do you not say, 'There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest'? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest (John 4:35).
Being a Christian, have you ever said that your family or friends aren't ready to believe? So you excuse yourself from witnessing, when there is an opportunity. Jesus, makes it very clear that around us a continual harvest waits to be reaped. Don't let Jesus find you making excuses. Look around. You will find people ready to hear God's Word.

model, and he is worth imitating
sacrifice, and he died for you
conqueror, and he conquered death to give you eternal life
high priest, and he is merciful, loving, and understanding
God, in Christ, became a living, breathing human being. Hebrews points out many reasons why this is so important.

Look Up To Jesus

"As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life. John 3:14-15.

God sent a plague of serpents to punish the Israelites when they were wandering in the wilderness, for their rebellious attitudes. Those destined to die from snakebite could be healed by obeying God's command to look up at the bronze serpent that Moses lifted up and by believing that God would heal them if they did. Our salvation is similar, it happens when we look up to Jesus, believing He will save us. Understand that it is God who has provided this way for us to be healed of sin's deadly bite.
