Sin Can Leave You Feeling Guilty and Embarrassed

Genesis 3:7 says, at that moment, their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness, so they strung fig leaves together around their hips to cover themselves.

After sinning, Adam and Eve felt guilt and embarrassment over their nakedness. Due to their guilty feelings they tried to hide from God. There is a guilty conscience that God placed inside you that goes off when you've done wrong. Like a smoke detector in your home, when there is a fire it will go off to warn you of danger. Don't get rid of the guilty feelings without eliminating the cause. That would be like putting a bandage on skin cancer but not treating the disease. Thank God those guilty feelings are there. They make you know that you have sin so you can ask God's forgiveness and then go and do that sin no more.

Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart (2 Timothy 2:22).
