HALLOWEEN: What's a Christian Supposed to Do?

This Halloween will you do as Joshua 24: 15, says, " If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: " whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

I urge you to display your spiritual leadership. Regardless of what others decided, you take a definite stand for the Lord on this eve of All Saints' Day on October 31. Joshua had made a commitment to God, and he was willing to set the example of living by that decision. And you can too. Because the way we live shows others the strength of our commitment to serving God.

He is Still Their God

Jeremiah 51:5 says, for the LORD Almighty has not forsaken Israel and Judah. He is still their God, even though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel."

Our land today is filled with sin against God, Know that He is still our God too.

In 2 Chronicles 6, Solomon asked God to make provisions for the people when they sinned. In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God answered with four conditions for forgiveness: (1) humble yourself by admitting your sins, (2) pray to God, asking for forgiveness, (3) seek God continually, and (4) turn from sinful behavior. Know that true repentance is more than talk. It is changed behavior. It does not matter whether we sin as a group, as a nation, or individually, obeying these steps will lead to forgiveness. God will answer our earnest prayers.

Young Men,Women, Boys and Girls

Never speak harshly to an older man, but appeal to him respectfully as though he were your own father. Talk to the younger men as you would to your own brothers. Treat the older women as you would your mother, and treat the younger women with all purity as your own sisters (1 Timothy 5: 1-2).

Don't Fool Yourselves!

Do you think that because the Temple is here you will never suffer? Don't fool yourselves! Do you really think you can steal, murder, commit adultery, lie, and worship Baal and all those other new gods of yours, and then come here and stand before me in my Temple and chant, "We are safe!"-only to go right back to all those evils again? Do you think this Temple, which honors my name, is a den of thieves? I see all the evil going on there, says the Lord (Jeremiah 7:8-11).
