How do we Receive God's Guidance?

Show me the path where I should walk, O LORD; point out the right road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you (Psalm 25: 4-5).

David expressed his desire for guidance. How do we receive God's guidance? The first step is to want to be guided and to realize that God's primary guidance system is in his Word, the Bible. Psalm 119 tells of the endless knowledge found in God's word. By reading it and constantly learning from it, we will gain the wisdom to perceive God's direction for our lives. We may be tempted to demand answers from God, but David asked for direction. When we are willing to seek God, learn from his Word, and obey his commands, then will we receive his specific guidance.

We must keep our eyes on the LORD, not Washington, the White House.

The psalmist says that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

Pray For Our Children

As believers, we are chosen to be priests of the living God. (1 Peter 2:9) A priest offers prayers to God on behalf of another. Through prayer God will give us protection from evil; healing from disease and sickness; wisdom; insight into His plans for our lives and the lives of our children; and blessing (his favor and presence).

You are Never Helpless With God

David, the servant of the LORD, tell us that He reached down from heaven and rescued me; He drew me out of deep waters (Psalm 18:16).

At some point in your life, have you felt your troubles, like "many waters," threaten to drown you? David, helpless and weak, knew that God alone had rescued him from his enemies when he was defenseless. When you hope that God would quickly rescue you from your troubles, remember that He can either deliver you or be your support as you go through them (18:18). Either way, His protection is best for you. When you feel like you're drowning in troubles, ask God to help you, hold you steady, and protect you. In His care, you are never helpless.

God Gives us Strength to Meet our Challenges

God arms me with strength; He has made my way safe. He makes me as surefooted as a deer, leading me safely along the mountain heights. He prepares me for battle; He strengthens me to draw a bow of bronze.

You have given me the shield of your salvation. Your right hand supports me; your gentleness has made me great. You have made a wide path for my feet to keep them from slipping (Psalm 18: 32-36).

God promises to give us strength to meet challenges, but know that He doesn't promise to eliminate them. If He gave us no rough roads to walk, no mountains to climb, and no battles to fight, we would not grow. He does not leave us alone with our challenges, however. Instead He stands beside us, teaches us, and strenghens us to face them.

Are You Aware That Life is Short?

Moses, the man of God, pray in his prayer. Teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom (Psalm 90:12).

When we realize that life is short, it helps us use the little time we have more wisely and for eternal good. We should take time to number our days by asking. "What do I want to see happen in my life before I die? What small step could I take toward that purpose today?"

Hebrew 9:27 says, and inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgement.
All people die physically, but Christ died so that we would not have to die spiritually.

Know That the LORD Made This Day-be Glad!

This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24).

There are days when the last thing we want to do is rejoice. Our guilt or our sorrow is overwhelming, our mood is down, and our situation is out of control.

Oftentimes, the writers of the psalms felt this way. but no matter how down the psalmists felt, they were always honest with God. And as they talked to God, their prayers ended in praise. So when you don't feel like rejoicing, tell God how you truly feel. You will find that God will give you a reason to rejoice. God has given you this day to live and to serve him-be glad!

The Lord is in His Holy Temple

Pray for the people of Haiti, that God will provide all of their needs.

But the LORD is in His holy Temple; the LORD still rules from heaven. He watches everything closely, examining everyone on earth (Psalm 11:4).

When the foundations are shaking and you wish you could hide, remember that God is still in control. His power is not diminished by any turn of events. Nothing happens without his knowledge and permission. When you feel like running away-run to God. He will restore justice and goodness on the earth in his good time.

This I Know

The Lord knows those that are His (II Timothy 2: 19).

As I began sorting through a stack of books a tract fell out.
I picked it up and read it. This is what it said"

When You Face Trials

Storms will come into your life if you live long enough.

" My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing this, that the testing of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, lacking nothing" (James 1: 2-4).

Whether you believe it or not, we can't really know the depth of our character until we see how we react under pressure. It is very easy to be kind to others when everything is going well, but can we still be kind when others are treating us unfairly? It is God's desire to make us mature and complete, not to keep us from all pain. Instead of complaining about our struggles, we should see them as opportunities for growth. Thank God for promising to be with you in rough times. Constantly, ask Him to help you solve your problems to give you the strength to endure them. Then be patient. God will not leave you alone with your problems; he will stay close and help you grow.

Who or What is your Giant Goliath?

I don't know what or who your giant Goliath is in your life today, but I do know One who is more than able to deliver you so you can have the victory as David did. First, you need to surround yourself with godly men and women. Who won't dwell on where you've been, but where you're going. Pray to God, and tell Him all about what's weighing you down. Be honest with the Lord, don't lie to Him. Learn to read your Bible daily, and believe by faith that God is who He says that He is.

Do You Have a Regular Time to Pray and Read God's Word?

Give ear to my words, O Lord, Consider my groaning. Heed the sound of my cry for help, my King and my God, for to You I pray. In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch (Psalm 5: 1-3).

In order to have a close relationship with God is to pray to Him earnestly in the morning. In the morning our minds are more free from problems and then we can commit the whole day to God. Communicating regularly helps any friendship and is certainly necessary for a strong relationship with God. We need to communicate with Him daily. How so? Reading His Word.

Sin Can Leave You Feeling Guilty and Embarrassed

Adam and Eve

Genesis 3:7 says, at that moment, their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness, so they strung fig leaves together around their hips to cover themselves.

After sinning, Adam and Eve felt guilt and embarrassment over their nakedness. Due to their guilty feelings they tried to hide from God. There is a guilty conscience that God placed inside you that goes off when you've done wrong. Like a smoke detector in your home, when there is a fire it will go off to warn you of danger. Don't get rid of the guilty feelings without eliminating the cause. That would be like putting a bandage on skin cancer but not treating the disease. Thank God those guilty feelings are there. They make you know that you have sin so you can ask God's forgiveness and then go and do that sin no more.

Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart (2 Timothy 2:22).

God is Still in Total Control of His World

Happy New Year!

This morning as I looked out the window, the sun shinning against the snow showing it beauty on the earth. It made me realize that it is because of God's Amazing Grace and His Loving kindness toward us.

In Psalm 147:16-18, the Psalmist says, He sends the snow like white wool; He scatters frost upon the ground like ashes. He hurls the hail like stones. Who can stand against His freezing cold? Then, at His command, it all melts. He sends His winds, and the ice thaws.

Be warm this winter season. Meditate on His Word.
